CNC OPERATOR WITH SET UP AND TROUBLESHOOTING
SHIFTS: 1ST AND 2ND SHIFT
WAGE: $22-$26/HOUR
LOCATION: JANESVILLE WI AREA
Position Overview
As a CNC Operator you will set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines (often lathes) to produce metal parts to specification. You’ll be working within a precision manufacturing environment where accuracy, quality, and safety are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Read setup sheets, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine required dimensions and machining sequence.
- Set up CNC machines: load fixtures/work-pieces, install cutting tools, secure parts, adjust machine settings (speeds, feeds, offsets).
- Operate the machine during production, monitor cycles, and detect issues such as tool wear or part inconsistencies.
- Perform in-process inspection: measure workpieces with calipers, micrometers, gauges to verify conformance to specs.
- Maintain machine/work area: keep it clean, follow 5S and safety protocols, document operations and production output.
- Other duties as assigned (may include assisting maintenance, changing tools, some manual operations).
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of ~1 year of experience in CNC machine setup/operation (for the “Operator / Setup Technician” level) in this company.
- Mechanical aptitude, basic arithmetic (fractions, decimals, metric/inch conversions).
- Good communication skills, ability to follow instructions, reliable attendance.
