MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- MANUFACTURING
TYPE: DIRECT HIRE
WAGE: $25-35/HOUR
SCHEDULE: 2ND SHIFT
- 2nd shift hours: 4:00pm-2:30am Mon-Thurs, overtime as needed on Fridays
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician ensures that all equipment, machinery, and systems in a food manufacturing facility are running efficiently and safely. This role involves performing regular inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on production lines and supporting equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, packaging machines, and refrigeration units
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment to minimize downtime
- Monitor machinery for any signs of wear or malfunction and take immediate corrective actions.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and document repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, OSHA, GMP, and company standards during all maintenance work.
- Support audits, inspections, equipment calibration, and facility safety.
- Maintain spare parts and tool inventory; order materials as needed.
- Identify and implement process improvements through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Complete maintenance logs and required compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to schedule work with minimal operational impact.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a maintenance role, preferably in food manufacturing or similar industrial settings.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMP, and safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automation systems.
- Familiarity with food production equipment (mixers, conveyors, packaging systems, ovens, etc.).
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs pounds as well as stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy environment.
